High Volume Personnel Access Control and Automated Time & AttendanceAccess control is a critical tool for security and accurate time and attendance calculations, but traditional credentials require manual presentation to a proximate reader to work. This manual approach is too slow for many enterprise operations which require high volume, high speed entrance and exit management. The Axcess solution uses an ISO sized credential which when carried on a person is automatically read, providing “hands-free” high speed access. In addition to automatic identification, the system knows in which direction the person is moving, in or out. The automatic collection of data enables simplified reconciliation with time and attendance logs for employees, visitors, and contractors. With auto ID, internal security zones are easily established to provide greater granularity for personnel authorizations. How It WorksAxcess’ Dual-Active RFID personnel badges transmit a unique ID number and location zone when they reach a facility door or gate. The badge conforms to the ISO 7810 standard size for ID cards and is powered by batteries expected to last minimum of three years. Badges are automatically activated as they move through a doorway or gate or into a parking/staging area. Security gates are equipped with palm-sized, network-based receivers operating at UHF frequency band to read from 35 feet up to 300 feet away depending upon the antenna used. The receivers are connected via standard network simultaneously to the enterprise system software, the existing security alarm equipment, and standalone management software. Tag reads are compared to the “authorized” list and if confirmed, gates and doors are automatically unlocked enabling entrance. Enterprise software captures the tag information and processes the entrance or exit calculation for recording accurate time and attendance. The Axcess “hands free” ActiveTag™ system proved most reliable and accurate in automatically detecting and identifying personnel entering or leaving facilities in a independent test conducted by the U.S. Defense Department’s research facility.
